Freshers’ Meet of St. Agnes Convent H.S. School


Haflong, September 26: The first freshers’ meet of the new students of St. Agnes Convent Higher Secondary school, Haflong, was held at the school Auditorium on Friday.

       Sr. Euphrasice Nadon RNDM, sister superior St. Agnes Convent Higher Secondary school was the chief guest of the function. Sister Elsie Anthony,  Miss Roma Bonner, Miss Debeshri Dey and Miss Binodini Singh was were the Judge of the meet. A number of senior teachers, students and other staff were present in the function.            Sister Euphrasice, Sister Shradha Principal, Miss Roma Bonner Sr. Teacher St. Agnes Convent Higher Secondary school welcoming the new students exhorted the freshers to study hard so that they would  become worthy specialists in future.
All the freshers introduced themselves on the stage. Some of them had to display their talent in singing or dancing during the introductions. The most amazing was that 80% of the freshers aim in life was to become a teacher which highlights that the students are very much inspired by the teachers of the school. Cultural items were also displayed by the students of class XII. After a long introduction and question hours, Miss Irose. D. Thiek was selected as Miss Freshers 2014 of St. Agnes Convent Higher Secondary school Haflong.
St. Agnes Convent School Haflong which was established in 1918 in the shape of residential school to cater the needs of the European and Anglo-Indian students of Tea garden managers and Railway officers of the time but seeing the needs of the locality it was opened for the local children in 1970 the school was offering studies up to High school level but in 2013the school opened its Higher secondary section to facilitate more students of the district.
