Haflong, November 13 : The road from Jatinga to Haflong, the
main lifeline of Haflong was under construction since couple of years but owing
to some problems relating to land compensation, etc. the construction of the
said road was not satisfactory.
This was stated in a press release dated 13.11.2014 by the
Principal Secretary and report by the DIPRO Ms. Purabi Phonglo through email on
the same day.
The release, further, says “Now Shri Debojeet Thaosen,
Hon’ble Chief Executive member of N.C.Hills Autonomous Council, Dima Hasao,
Haflong had taken the matter very seriously and is of the view that the construction
of the said road should be completed within the month of March 2015. The
denizens who had already received their compensation amount for their land in
these areas starting from Jatinga-Haflong had already handed over the land to
the concerned authorities but despite receiving the compensation amount, few
land owners did not handed over the land which is creating a massive
disturbances for the construction of the road.”
“The N.C.Hills Autonomous Council with help from District
Administration had now decided to go for eviction drive for the successful
construction/completion of Jatinga-Haflong road at the earliest. The N.C.Hills
Autonomous Council fervently requests the denizens of the Jatinga-Haflong road
area for their full co-operation in this regard for the development of the
district and its denizens.”
