Haflong,
October 31: New campus of pig-cum-poultry farm was inaugurated
today at Sontilla, 9 Kms away from Haflong town by Debojeet Thaosen Chief Executive
Member, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Dima Hasao, Haflong in presence
of Prakanta Warisa, Executive Member i/c. Dima Hasao Animal Husbandry &
Vety. Deptt.
The ceremony was inaugurated by cutting of
ribbon by Debojeet Thaosen, CEM, at the main gate of the campus. Later CEM and
all guests visited the piggery, poultry and duckery farm campus which was
followed by public meeting.
CEM
Debojeet Thaosen in his speech congratulated the department for completing the
new farm in a short span of 3(three) years that covers an area of 35(thirty
five) Bighas of land. This farm is
claimed to be the largest Government Farm in Assam till date. This will also
generate employment to many unemployed youth in the district. Further CEM urged
all other departments also to do something new as such for the development of
this district.

Warisa conveyed that the merits of establishing the farm far away from thickly
populated town area will keep the general public free from contaminated
diseases like bird flu and other dreaded diseases.
In
his speech Dr. J. Gogoi, Manager, Govt. Pig-cum-poultry and Dairy Development
department Dima Hasao thanked the PHE, PWD & ASEB department for their
co-operation in completion of such a great infrastructure.
The ceremony was also attended by Ngamrothang Hmar, Chairman
NCHAC as Guest of Honour and other Ems and MACs including Deputy Chairman, Vice
Chairman, District Planning Board and Principal Secretary (T) GBs public
leaders Officers and Staffs dignitaries Media persons among a large number of
public.
