Haflong, January 12: The ceremonial distribution of laptops under Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme was done at the Haflong District Library Auditorium today. Around three hundred students who stood first division during the High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2014 were benefitted with the scheme.
Since the year 2005, this scheme announced by the Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has helped in encouraging competitive spirit among the students in the district and has encouraged the students to march forward in this age of competition acquiring the knowledge of information technology.
In the last examination held Angita Roy, d/o Ajit Roy of St. Agnes’ School, Haflong stood first in the district with distinction, followed by Jaibumsang Hrangkhol, s/o Lt. Neisemle Hrangkhol of Don Bosco School, Haflong and Kiran Joshi, s/o Pitambar Joshi of Don Bosco School, Haflong.
Six students stood meritorious first division with distinction and forty four students with star marks at the examination held last year.
Nirmal Maramsa attended the programme as the chief guest along with ADC Si-im Taro, EAC Deepak Jidung, EAC Rajiv Das, Dy Inspector of Schools P Nunisa and V L T Bapui and other senior citizens as the guest of honour. Hundreds of students from around the district accompanied by their parents were seen attending today’s programme.
