Assam Chief Minister Sonowal inaugurates District Judicial Court at Jatinga

  Haflong, July 29: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated District Judicial Court building today ( July 29, 2017) at Jatinga (Boro Haflong), about 7 Km from the District Head Quarter Haflong, in the presence of Mr. Justice Ajit Singh, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court and Mr. Justice Hrishikesh Roy, Judge-in-Charge, Administrative Department, Mr. Justice Mir Alfaz Ali, Portfolio Judge, Dima Hasao District and V.K. Pipersinia, Chief Secretary, Assam.


This historic event mark the segregation of the Judiciary from the Executive for the first time in Dima Hasao district, to pave the way for speedier justice delivery system for the general public. This also mark the fulfilment of a long standing public demand including Public Interest Litigations filed for the segregation earlier.

The Chief Minister, speaking just after inaugurating the new Court Building, stated that an independent Judiciary will fulfil the long standing demand of the local people (see p-3)

 and thanked the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court for his prompt efforts in establishing the Court. He also said that it was due to the commitment of public life, such projects were achievable in a record period.

During the course of his speech the Chief Minister also said that the government is committed for the upliftment of all section of the people and quoted the Prime Minister’s push for ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’.
The Chief Minister announced that within a short span road networks as well as village roads and other infrastructure will be developed which leads to the hill district. He also assured that a modern State Civil Services Training Institute will also be commissioned shortly in the district.
Appreciating the abundance of clean environment in the district of Dima Hasao, he said this could usher in a tourism revolution that the district could also foray into organic cultivation.
The Chief Minister also called upon all the ethnic groups to maintain peace and brotherhood living in the hill district for more vibrant economic development of the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Justice Ajit Singh, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, lauded Chief Minister Sonowal for promptly taking up the matter which resulted in Government of Assam to direct the Dima Hasao executive administration to stop functioning as judicial administrators and to set up proper infrastructure for the judicial courts to function and step up smooth delivery of the justice system.
Justice Ajit Singh said, “Today we are inaugurating a court having necessary infrastructure which is capable of dispensing justice in the threshold of every household”. He also requested the common people to have faith in the judicial system so that the judiciary can deliver the best to benefit the poor litigants. He further added, “I desire the common men must come forward to the judiciary with their grievances openly and without any kind of fear or suspicion so that their rights can be protected and preserved to the fullest”.
The meeting was also attended by Debolal Gorlosa, CEM, NCHAC, Dima Hasao, Ranjit Hazarika, DC, Dima Hasao, Office bearers and members of the advocate bar association among others.
