Haflong, July 25 : Assam governor, Banwarilal Purohit reached Haflong for his two days maiden visit on July 18. He was welcomed with guard of honour in association with Administration and North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Haflong. As a part of the programme, a meeting was held in the evening at Haflong Circuit House with the deputy commissioner, superintendent of police and departmental heads of Government departments, general manager of NEEPCO Ltd., Umrangso.
During the meeting, a slide show was displayed on various facts about the history, topography, communication system, tourism, disaster management etc. His Excellency also took stock of plan and programmes of developmental works about the Government departments. The governor expressed his gratitude for to the officials for such a warm welcome received.
Later in the evening a formal meeting with the delegations of political parties, NGOs and other organizations was also held.
The second day programme of Sjt. Banwarilal Purohit,Governor of Assam started with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan infront of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School,Haflong alongwith Chief Executive Member,Executive Members,Members of Autonomous Council,Deputy Commissioner, Principal Secretary (T),Principal Secretary(N),Government employees ,NGO’s etc.
After the programme of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a meeting with the members of NCHAC was held at Haflong Circuit House Conference Hall .They discussed about the ongoing developmental programmes in the district and also achievement under various development departments. During the discussion, Governor asserted that the salary problems in N.C.Hills Autonomous Council under normal sector was created by itself .He expressed that the appointments made for teachers are observed to be out of norms of appointment under the rules of government. Advising the members to keep close co-operation with the Governments to solve salary problem of NCHAC’s normal sector permanently.
In the last part of the meeting the Governor assured of improved road communication through National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and thanks to all for good hospitality.
After the meeting programme Governor inaugurated a new Tourist Lodge at Sainza Razi,Haflong and laid foundation stone of S.R. Thaosen Media centre at Dibarai ,Haflong. A cultural programme at Dibarai community Playground was also organised as part of the Governor reception. The two days programme ended after the lunch organised at Dibarai by the people here.
The Assam governor was at Haflong for two days on 18th & 19th July, 2017.During his two days programme he sat on a meeting with DC, SP, officials of various departments under the council and district administration. Praising the warm hospitality of the people of Dima Hasao,the Governor proceeded for Raj Bhawan by afternoon today.
